Operating in a high-volume, multi-entity environment undergoing rapid international expansion and strategic acquisitions, the organization is bringing its core finance operations fully in-house to support scalable long-term growth. Working closely with executive leadership, this critical role goes beyond traditional accounting to take complete ownership of financial consolidations, month-end close optimization, SaaS performance metrics, and commercial analysis. We are seeking a proactive leader with a Financial Controller mindset who can independently challenge assumptions, eliminate operational bottlenecks, and bring clear financial visibility to strategic executive decisions. RESPONSIBILITIES: • Financial Close, Reporting & Multi-Entity Consolidation: • Take end-to-end ownership of the month-end close cycle, including journal entries, accruals, prepayments, balance sheet reconciliations, and consolidated financial reporting. • Lead the strategic transition of financial close and reporting activities from external advisers to the internal finance function. • Audit and streamline close workflows to significantly reduce month-end closing timelines from 2–3 weeks. • Prepare accurate, consolidated profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports across multiple domestic and international entities while maintaining audit-ready documentation. • Management Accounting & Commercial Analysis: • Deliver monthly management accounts supported by deep, commercially relevant commentary on business performance and profitability drivers. • Perform budget-versus-actual and month-on-month variance analyses, actively investigating root causes rather than merely reporting numbers. • Develop, maintain, and refine annual budgets, rolling forecasts, and multi-entity cash flow projections. • Partner with executive leadership to evaluate operational margins, identify financial risks, and translate complex financial data into actionable growth strategies. • SaaS Performance Metrics & Revenue Recognition: • Track, analyze, and report on key SaaS metrics, including MRR, ARR, churn, customer retention, customer acquisition cost (CAC), and customer lifetime value (LTV). • Reconcile complex subscription, recurring billing, and usage data with core management accounts in full alignment with revenue recognition principles. • Acquisitions & Process Transformation: • Support post-acquisition financial integrations, harmonizing accounting policies, chart of accounts, and financial frameworks across acquired businesses. • Audit existing financial workflows, identify manual bottlenecks, and implement modern automation tools and robust internal controls. • Coach and uplift existing bookkeeping and operational finance team members, establishing clear procedures, responsibilities, and reporting deadlines. Requirements QUALIFICATIONS: • Experience: Minimum 7+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including substantial senior management accounting, finance manager, or financial controller responsibilities. • Industry Background: Proven experience operating within a B2B SaaS, subscription-based technology, or recurring revenue software business. • Core Technical Competencies: Demonstrated ownership of financial consolidations, multi-entity accounting, month-end close streamlining, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis. • SaaS Expertise: Deep working knowledge of subscription billing models, revenue recognition standards, and core SaaS unit economics (MRR/ARR/Churn). • Education & Skills: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline; advanced Excel skills for complex financial modeling; and exceptional written and verbal English communication skills for senior stakeholder management. DESIRED (NOT REQUIRED): • Professional qualification such as CPA, CA, ACCA, or equivalent. • Direct reporting experience to a CFO, Finance Director, or senior executive. • Exposure to Australian accounting standards, tax compliance, and business frameworks. • Practical experience navigating fast-paced technology businesses undergoing mergers and acquisitions (M&A) or international expansion. • Familiarity with integrated SaaS billing engines, ERP platforms, and automated reporting systems.
