As a Restaurant Waiter/Waitress, you are the face of Scylla’s hospitality in all food and beverage areas. You provide attentive, friendly, and professional service to ensure guests enjoy exceptional dining experiences onboard. Your teamwork and flexibility support both restaurant operations and guest satisfaction. Work & Life Onboard Conditions: • Competitive salary paid in EURO + possible to earn gratuties • River ships are located in Europe - closer to home • Seasonal work with contracts from March to November renewable each season • No Safety certificates or Seaman's book required • Very simple medical exam - can be conducted with family doctor • Free food and accommodation onboard (shared for 2 same gender crew) • Possibility to take paid days off, sick days and vacation during the season • Excellent working conditions, social contributions and health insurance • Free internet (10 GB per month) • Shore leave almost every day • Work in an international team and develop your professional skills • Travel across Europe while gaining valuable international experience Duties and responsibilities: • Friendly and competent guest service according to Scylla standards. • Communication with guests to ensure satisfaction and resolve any complaints. • Taking guests orders for food and drinks in the Restaurant, Bar or Sundeck. • Serving food and drinks in all departments on the ship (Restaurant, Bar, Room service, Sundeck) in a professional way. • Knowledge of the menu and all drinks, including wines in compliance to Scylla standard as well as the allergies and any other food sensitivity. • Silver-tongued, professional and well-groomed appearance. • Manage a Restaurant station of 45 to 50 guests, together with another Waiter/Waitress or Barkeeper. • Active sales of drinks in the Restaurant and Bar, including the Sundeck. • Wine knowledge, bringing wine selections to the guests and pouring drinks for them. • Providing general guest service, making sure they are enjoying their meals. • Setup of tables according to company standards as well as polish cutlery and glasses. • Assistance with the preparation of inventories General cleaning work in the Restaurant and Bar. • Weekly general cleaning of the Restaurant and Bar. • etc. Requirements: • Age: min. 18 years old • Preferably experienced within the hotel industry and/ or previous ship experience. • Stress resistant, calm under pressure, team player with positive attitude. • Open minded, independent and flexible with strong customer focus. • Professional attitude and appearance, reliable and hard-working able to work long shifts. • Crew on board river cruises have to be ready for mixed duties and multitasking. Languages vs Nationality Requirements: • Good English skills (written & verbal) required for all positions. • German-speakers (advanced level) can also be be considered with basic English. • EU nationals can apply and join during whole season without visas. • Non-EU nationals apply for D type German visa before joining, thus may apply only before season starts. • Non-EU nationals that speak no German language may be considered only for culinary positions OR if they have strong previous cruise ship experieence in the same position.
